Pre wedding skin care routine

Hi everyone!
So it’s been a while.. had a very busy fantastic season with lots of beautiful bride to be’s and as things are quietening down (dare I say it) I thought it would be a good time to hop on and talk to you a little about skin care and what you can be doing to help before your big day (or just in general if you need to up your skin care game!)

So as you all may know, I absolutely love skincare- I truly believe that by creating a flawless base, makeup will sit beautifully on your skin.
If you are planning your wedding and you don’t have a skin care routine in place, I would definitely recommend you make a start!

A good skin care routine consists of a few key products. I will try and keep it as “basic” as possible as I think we all have more chance of sticking to something if it’s realistic and affordable! So the main key products are - cleanser, toner, a serum, a moisturiser and an SPF - SPF is so important for your skin and helps prevent premature ageing and those harmful rays penetrating the skin.
There are so many products on the market that it can often be totally overwhelming when it comes to choosing. There are plenty of high street products that are adequate - I particularly love Garnier Micellar Water as a quick makeup remover and then I follow up with Dermalogica special cleansing gel - this is brilliant at getting rid of makeup and dirt without disturbing your skins natural moisture balance.

Another product that I’ve started using recently is Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant - I have never seen such dramatic results as I have since using this. Daily Microfoliant is a gentle exfoliant that is suitable for use daily. It gets rid of all your dead skin cells and your skin feels sooo amazing and so much smoother and softer. One thing I’ve really noticed though is how much brighter and glowing my skin has looked even with no makeup on! I simply couldn’t be without it now!

I recently attended skincare guru Caroline Hiron’s masterclass in all things skincare (most hilarious yet knowledgable woman ever!)
and she couldn’t stress enough how important a serum is before your moisturiser. One that contains Vitamin C is perfect for so many reasons - reversing the appearance of wrinkles (give me a whoop), stimulating growth of collagen and reducing redness and generally brightening your complexion- it’s basically the mayo to your ham sandwich (if that’s your thing ha!) I have been using Glossier Super Glow - it’s pretty reasonable and makes your skin feel super soft!

I think your next priority before the big day is booking at your local beauty salon (I use the fab girls at Ace Beauty in Shenfield - Becky is a dab hand at brows too!). Here you can have your skin assessed and devise the perfect skin care strategy for achieving perfect bridal skin goals - a block of facials customised to you to help target any problem areas or even just an hour to unwind once a month and keep the pre wedding nerves at bay!

One thing I will say is that if you’re looking to start a new skin care routine, it’s important that it’s at least six months before- the last thing you want is to introduce something too close to the big day that could potentially flare up your skin.

And lastly, let’s talk about lips! So many of us are prone to dry, chapped and flakey lips- particularly this time of year when the weather has turned cold. The first product I can recommend is Dermalogica nightly lip treatment- as well as targeting dry lips, it’s fantastic for minimising any lines around the lip area - it’s actually a perfect product for mother of the brides who feel like they have lost volume and plumpness in their lips- which is all too common as we age.
Alternatively if you’re just looking for a decent lip scrub, Lush do loads and they are the most incredible flavours including bubble gum and now cookie dough and they are an absolute bargain at just £6.50!
